Miss Turkey, Azra Akin, was today crowned Miss World 2002 as the beauty contest finally went ahead after weeks of controversy.

Miss Turkey, Azra Akin, was today crowned Miss World 2002 as the beauty contest finally went ahead after weeks of controversy.

Miss Colombia was declared runner-up while Miss Peru took third place at the glittering ceremony, attended by 2,000 people at Alexandra Palace in north London.
