Drought devastating Australian Farmers

Australian Prime Minister John Howard warned today that the government could be forced to pay up to €220m in aid to farmers whose crops and livestock have been hit by a devastating drought.

He said the government was already spending €40m on assistance to farmers under existing drought relief.
