The Iraqi parliament today unanimously recommended rejection of a a UN resolution on arms inspections, but said the final decision would be left to President Saddam Hussein.

The United Nations had asked Iraq to respond by Friday. Today’s parliament vote could be seen as strengthening Saddam’s hand if he wants to take a hard line.
