Afghan police shoot university protesters
Police opened fire on university students protesting against poor living conditions at a campus dormitory in Kabul, killing one and wounding five others, Afghanistan’s Interior Minister said today.
Students began throwing stones at police and passing cars around Kabul University last night, complaining their dormitories lacked food, water and electricity, Interior Minister Taj Mohammed Wardak said.
Several police were injured by flying rocks while trying to put down the demonstration. The protesters were dispersed after several hours, Wardak said.
