Bush's poll rating rises as war with Iraq looms

US President George Bush apparently strengthened his hand with the American public when he helped Republicans to a strong performance in elections a week ago, a new poll suggests.

The CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll found that public approval of Bush’s handling of his job, his handling of the economy and a possible invasion of Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein has edged upward since Election Day.
