Cosmetics heir on trial for multiple rape

An heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune is due to go in trial in California today, charged with a spree of drug-fuelled rapes.

Andrew Luster, 38, whose great grandfather was Hollywood legend Max Factor, faces 87 charges including rape and sexual assault.

Police in Ventura County said they discovered a stock of home-made videos of Luster assaulting unconscious women inside his beach house.

Prosecutors say that Luster lured girls back to his beachfront home and laced their drinks with the drug gamma hydroxybutyrate - GHB.

He has claimed the romps were consensual.
