Mexican officers found dead

Authorities in Tijuana, Mexico have found the tortured bodies of two police officers who had been abducted at gunpoint, stuffed in the boot of a car.

A third officer who was also kidnapped was still missing.

Baja California state agents Jorge Verdugo, Sergio Bravo and Carlos Alberto Lopez were kidnapped by a group of men wielding machine guns shortly after noon on Wednesday as they navigated their police vehicle down a crowded street in central Tijuana.

Police searching a Volkswagen Passat abandoned in front of an apartment complex said the two officers had been severely beaten before being strangled.
