Briton detained in southern Russia
A Briton has been arrested in southern Russia for travelling without a visa.
Michael Rix was detained by authorities in Volgograd, about 550 miles southeast of Moscow, British embassy officials said today.
Diplomats said Mr Rix had entered Russia without a visa, but it was unclear how or where he had crossed the border. They said Russian officials were seeking to deport him.
Russian news agencies said Mr Rix is wanted in other countries. The embassy said it had no information to that effect.
