Russia today appeared to soften its opposition to a new UN resolution on the return of weapons inspectors to Iraq, with Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov saying that Moscow would in principle be prepared for consultations.

Russia today appeared to soften its opposition to a new UN resolution on the return of weapons inspectors to Iraq, with Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov saying that Moscow would in principle be prepared for consultations.

“Russia is always prepared to hold consultations in order to achieve the goal of the swiftest return of international inspectors so they can have the chance to quickly resume their work,” Ivanov said.
