India death poll reaches 23

At least 23 people dead in Hindu temple attack in western India, the deputy prime minister said.

“Twenty-three people are dead. They include 13 men, six women and four children,” said Lal Krishna Advani.

“The terrorists are still inside, on the roof of the sprawling complex,” he said.

Advani, who described the shooting as a suicide attack, said 500 people had been evacuated from the temple complex.
