Last day of Slovakia general elections

Polling stations in Slovakia re-opened today for the last day of the general elections.

The result will decide who will lead the nation into NATO and the European Union.

However, even before the ballots have been counted, former Prime Minister Vladimir Meciar appears out of the running.

Other parties have shunned him after the west warned that his election would hinder the country’s entry into the EU.
