Bush demands power to take on Saddam

President George Bush today asked Congress for authority to use military force to overthrow Saddam Hussein and warned the US will take action on its own if the UN Security Council balks.

The president was sending to Congress his proposed wording for a resolution that he wants approved before the House adjourns for the November 5 midterm elections.
