Abused girl breaks legs in escape bid

A nine-year-old girl broke both her legs when she fell from her apartment while trying to escape her abusive father and sister, police and news reports said today.

The girl tried to jump into her neighbour’s home next door in Kuala Lumpur, but fell and landed on a balcony one floor below. She lay writhing in pain for 12 hours before the apartment owner returned and sent her to the hospital, The Star newspaper reported.
