Non violent Basques held a rally yesterday amid fears over new limits on free speech following the banning of radical party Batasuna over alleged ties to ETA.

Spanish authorities and courts have banned several protests, fearing violence or support for Batasuna.

An estimated 600 people gathered in Guernica’s central square for a 15-minute silence, followed by the singing of the Basque national anthem.
