The World Trade Organisation today ruled that the European Union can impose trade sanctions of up to €4.1bn against the United States in a dispute over corporate tax law.

The World Trade Organisation today ruled that the European Union can impose trade sanctions of up to €4.1bn against the United States in a dispute over corporate tax law.

The result is a major victory for the EU, which had requested that amount. The United States claimed the award should be less than €1bn.
