Occupation causing poverty in Palestinian territory

The Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories has resulted in a 70% poverty rate and one in two Palestinians being unemployed.

The UN's envoy to the region revealed the statistics today as Israeli invasions continue to cripple the local economy.

Terje Roed-Larsen has urged Israel to impose restrictions on Palestinian travel and called on both parties to resume peace talks, as the only solution to the present stand off.
