Carr appears before court via videolink
The woman charged in connection with the murder of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman today appeared in court via a video link.
Maxine Carr, 25, who is charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, answered questions via the link at Peterborough Crown Court.
The decision to take the unusual step of her not appearing in person was made in a bid to avoid a repeat of the aggressive scenes when a crowd of about 500 gathered outside Peterborough Magistrates Court last week when Carr made her first court appearance.
Looking pale and nervous and wearing a black sweatshirt with a Daffy Duck motif on the front she sat quietly waiting for the proceedings to start.
The Crown Court hearing took place at the city’s magistrates court due to the recent installation of new video link technology.
Carr was remanded in custody for one month and is due appear at Peterborough Crown Court on September 27.
