Service held for Holly and Jessica as murder investigation continues

A church service was held this morning in Soham in Cambridgeshire to remember schoolgirls, Jessica Chapman and Holly Well, who went missing two weeks ago today.

The parents of the 10-year old best friends are waiting in dread for confirmation that two bodies found yesterday in Mildenhall, Suffolk are their missing daughters.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Hebb, who is at the scene where the two bodies were found, says forensic teams have a long task ahead of them.

"We have to make sure that we very carefully assess the scene and recover all possible forensic evidence from the scene.

"Clearly our priority at this time is still with Jessica and Holly and their parents as it has been throughout this inquiry. We can only, I think, imagine the distress that the parents are going through," he said.

Yesterday, police arrested Ian Huntley, a caretaker at the local college and Maxine Carr, a former teaching assistant at the girls’ school, on suspicion of murder.

Forensic experts are continuing to gather evidence at the scene where the two bodies were found and at the home of Huntley and Carr.
