Pope seeks prayers of support on eve of Polish pilgrimage

No longer able to travel with vigour and ease as he used to, Pope John Paul, on the eve of his trip to Poland, today asked for prayers to support him during his pilgrimage to his homeland.

The trip, which begins with a flight to Krakow, will be the ninth time John Paul has returned to Poland since he became pope in 1978.
