Police investigate possible sighting of missing girls
Police searching for two missing 10-year-old girls say they are investigating a possible new sighting on a main road leading towards Cambridge.
Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were last seen walking on a main road near their homes in Soham, Cambridgeshire, at about 6.30pm on Sunday.
Police said a member of the public has now reported seeing two girls walking between Ely and Cambridge.
"Somebody saw two girls walking along the side of the A10," said a police spokesman.
"It was either late on Sunday night or in the early hours of Monday morning.
"They said they saw them in the Little Thetford area. I'm not sure which direction they were walking in.
"We would now urge anyone who was on the road in that area on Sunday evening to think very hard as to whether they saw two girls.
"The main road is between Ely and Cambridge and is busy and there would have been traffic on it at that late hour.
"If two girls were on the side of the road, someone must have seen them. We would urge people to think very hard."
