RAF Harrier crashes in UK

An RAF Harrier jet crashed into the sea off the East Anglian coast near Lowestoft this afternoon, said the British Ministry of Defence.

The pilot ejected before the plane went down and Suffolk Police said neither he nor anyone else had been hurt.

A police spokesman said: "All the emergency services, including the coastguard, are on the scene.

"This has happened recently but the pilot ejected safely and no-one was hurt so it’s basically a clearing-up operation and then it will be a matter for investigators."
