Robinson urges US to halt two executions

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson has taken a final swipe at the US before leaving her position.

Mrs Robinson, a former Irish President, has called on authorities in Texas to stop the scheduled execution of two men who committed murders when they were just 17 years old.

The two death row inmates, now in their 20s, are due to be executed on August 28.

Mrs Robinson is in the final stretch of her term as Human Rights Commissioner after being removed from the post following pressure from the United States.
