Man shoots eight in Lebanon
A man opened fire today at a Beirut university, killing eight people before he was arrested by police, officials said.
They said Ahmed Mansour originally began firing in the air. He then turned his gun on people in the offices of the teachers’ compensation fund in the literature department of Lebanese University.
It was not immediately known whether he was a student, a teacher or an employee. Police said they did not know what his motive was.
Lebanon has known civil war, an Israeli invasion and unrest linked to the presence of thousands of Palestinian refugees.
