Four wounded, bomber dies in Israel blast

Central Jerusalem has again been the target of a suicide bomber, who injured four people and killed himself.

Police said four people were wounded and the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber, who died in the attack.

Jerusalem Police Chief Mickey Levy said the bomber walked up to a felafel stand on the busy Hanevi’im street in the city centre and detonated the bomb.

‘‘What is clear now is that the bomber died and there are four wounded,’’ he said.

The blast occurred in one of the most heavily guarded areas of the city - where traditionally Arab east Jerusalem and west Jerusalem are divided.

It was the first suicide bombing in Jerusalem since a pair of attacks June 18-19 killed 26 Israelis and prompted the army to occupy seven of the eight major Palestinian towns in the West Bank.
