One person has been killed and two injured when two light aircraft crashed on the runway of an airport in Melbourne today, officials said.

A fire brigade spokesman said two Cessna 172 aircraft ran into each other around 6.40pm (09.40 Irish time) at Melbourne’s Moorabbin Airport, causing both to burst into flames.
