Colombian airliner hijack fails over Spain

A man armed with a knife attempted to take over an airliner flying from Colombia to Spain as it approached Madrid’s Barajas Airport today.

The Avianca jetliner from Bogota was diverted to a military airport where it landed safely.

Police said the attempted hijacker was subdued by security forces.
