Teenager dies after Ferris wheel plunge

A teenaged girl has died after falling from a theme park Ferris wheel, British police said today.

The 16-year-old girl, who has Down’s syndrome, fell about 30 feet from the wheel at Gulliver’s World Theme Park in Warrington, Cheshire, on Saturday.

Police said the girl, from Nelson, Lancashire, was visiting the park with her family as part of an organised group trip.

She was taken to the intensive care unit of Warrington District General Hospital, where she later died, police said.

A joint investigation has been launched by Cheshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive.
