An immigrant Egyptian man opened fire yesterday at the ticket counter of Israeli airline El Al in Los Angeles International Airport, killing two people before being shot dead by a security guard.

The gunman, 41-year-old Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, was a resident of Irvine, California, who came to the US from Egypt 10 years ago, the FBI said. Agents were believed to be searching his home.
