The US government has turned to the Arab world for support in its campaign to oust Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

The White House said Israel’s future could depend on it. "What Palestinians need is leadership - elected leadership," Mr Bush said yesterday in a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien to open the G8 summit in Canada.
