Police in Mexico have captured a trio of smugglers accused of setting up a phony exportation business to move Colombian cocaine through Mexico and on to Canada, investigators said.

Canadian Kenneth Charles Fisher and Mexicans Arnulfo ‘‘The Captain’’ Pisllonett and Raul Rivas Escalante were arrested on June 20, capping a four-month investigation dubbed ‘‘Operation Maple,’’ Jose Santiago Vasconcelos, head of the Justice Department’s federal organised crime unit, said at a press conference.
