Dozens feared dead after train crash

Dozens - possibly hundreds - of people are feared dead after a passenger train rolled back into an on coming freight train in central Tanzania today.

The accident took place in Igandu village near Mpwapwa after the passenger train’s brakes failed.

A police official said he saw bodies being ferried away from the accident in a truck.

Tanzania Railways Corporation said all but one of the passenger train’s 15 carriages derailed and overturned.
