EU look at ways to stop illegal immigrants

EU foreign ministers sought today to overcome differences over a plan to link aid to poor nations to their cooperation in stopping illegal immigrants heading to the EU.

Spurred into action by recent election successes of far-right politicians in France, the Netherlands and other EU nations, governments have placed immigration at the top of the agenda as they prepare for this week’s summit in Seville.
