US military transport plane crashes in Afghanistan

A US military transport plane with 10 people on board crashed in eastern Afghanistan tonight, a Defence Department spokesman said in Washington.

There was no immediate word on the fate of the soldiers on the MC-130 plane, but search and rescue crews were on the scene, spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Dave Lapan said.
