US aircraft down in Afghanistan

A US aircraft has crashed in Afghanistan, a Defence Department spokesman said in Washington tonight.

Lieutenant Colonel Dave Lapan said he had no further details about the incident.

Spokesmen for the US Central Command, which oversees the US war in Afghanistan, said they did not have any further details.
