Giant painting could win children a place in record books

Children in Thailand hope a giant painting will win them a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

The youngsters spent two months creating the 10,000 square metre canvas artwork.

More than 4,000 children aged between eight and 13 took part in the project.

The painting has now gone on display outside the Grand Palace in Bangkok.

A Guinness spokesman said: "We don't have a current record for the largest canvas painting, so we would invite the children to make an application."

The message on the artwork reads "Their Majesties the King and Queen give all the Thai people happiness."
