Swiss vote on abortion

Voters in Switzerland are to vote on controversial new abortion legislation that will decide whether or not abortions can be carried out in the country.

Currently, an abortion can only be carried out if it is necessary to protect the health of the mother and anyone who carries out an illegal abortion can face a prison sentence or a heavy fine.
