Bush meets Pope to discuss sex abuse scandal

US President George Bush has met Pope John Paul II at the Vatican and raised his concerns regarding the Roman Catholic Church’s standing in the light of the sexual abuse scandal that has rocked the institution in America.

Upon arriving at the Vatican yesterday, Mr Bush was escorted past a row of Swiss Guards in red-plumed helmets and into a study where the Pope stood waiting beside his desk.
