British-Israeli family file €22m lawsuit against EU

A British-Israeli family has filed a €22m lawsuit against the European Union for allegedly funding Palestinian militants who carried out an attack against them in August.

The lawsuit claims that the EU’s grants to the Palestinian Authority indirectly helped the Palestinian gunmen who killed Techiya Blumberg in a drive-by shooting in the West Bank.

Mrs Blumberg’s husband and 14-year-old daughter were also injured in the attack. The Israeli security forces arrested two members of the Palestinian security forces last year and accused them of participating in the attack.

The EU is currently investigating allegations that the Palestinian Authority used member states’ money to carry out attacks against Israelis, but it said it has found no evidence so far to support the claims.
