Bomb claims fourth victim

A bomb laid by a suicide bomber in an Israel resort has claimed a fourth victim.

Four people were killed when a Palestinian bomber disguised in an army uniform detonated his explosive at a produce market in the town of Netanya.

Several hours after the bombing, Israeli tanks rolled into part of the West Bank city of Ramallah.

In the West Bank city of Nablus, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsibility for the attack.

In the hours before the suicide blast, Israeli security forces had been on alert in the often-targeted Netanya area after receiving information that a bomber was preparing an attack.

"There was a warning," said police spokeswoman Shira Lieberman. "Authorities knew there would be an attack in the greater Netanya area."

But the bomber was wearing an olive green Israeli army uniform - a common sight on Israeli streets - and that may have helped him avoid notice.

"It appears he arrived with someone else who dropped him off at the market," said Ms Lieberman. "He moved through the stalls until he found some place to blow himself up."

The overall number of injured was put at between 28 and 50, according to Israeli authorities.

The Palestinian leadership issued a collective statement declaring its "full condemnation for the terror attack that targeted Israeli civilians".
