First mass celebrated in Church of the Nativity

The first public mass will be held at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem after a 39-day standoff ended yesterday.

13 Palestinians who were holed up there have left the building and have been thrown into exile. They are currently in Cyprus.

Israeli troops have withdrawn from the town. It's thought their offensive will now concentrate on Gaza, where the leadership of the Islamic militant group Hamas is based.
