Exile deal to end Bethlehem church siege

Palestinian leaders today agreed to exile 13 militants hiding in the besieged Church of the Nativity, in a deal that would resolve the 35-day standoff with Israel at one of Christianity’s holiest sites.

The deal would also end Israel’s month-long military operation in the West Bank, just hours before Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon was to meet US president George Bush in Washington.
