Burma’s opposition leader and Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi publicly left her house for the first time in 19 months today after she was freed from house arrest.

Reporters gathered at the entrance to University Drive, which leads to her lakeside villa in Rangoon, saw Suu Kyi drive out in a white Toyota sedan to her National League for Democracy party headquarters.
