Baby killer whale makes three generations

A killer whale has been born at SeaWorld San Diego, completing three generations of one family.

Grandmother Kasatka and mother Takara have been swimming with Shamu for the first time.

Takara, a 10-year-old orca, conceived through artificial insemination.

She became pregnant on November 3, 2000. The gestation period of a killer whale is approximately 17 months.

Kasatka was the world's first marine mammal to be impregnated through artificial insemination.
