Pope condemns paedophile priests

Pope John Paul II has told a meeting of US cardinals that there is no place in religious life for priests who sexually abuse young people.

"To the victims and their families, wherever they may be, I express my profound sense of solidarity and concern," he told the closed-door meeting in the Vatican.
