US government told of terror threats against banks - FBI

The FBI, acting with ‘‘an abundance of caution’’, said today that officials had received unsubstantiated information that terrorists were considering attacks against US banks in the north east of the country.

Authorities cautioned that they had no information about a specific plot or threats to any specific financial institution.
