75% of Palestinians unemployed - UN
The United Nations’ special envoy to the Middle East has said that 75% of the Palestinian population is now unemployed because of a state of economic paralysis caused by 19 months of violence.
Terje Roed-Larsen said Israel’s attempt to crush the Palestinian Authority has also left large parts of the West Bank overrun by 'lawlessness and anarchy'.
Mr Roed-Larsen and Nigel Roberts, the regional representative of the World Bank, have urged international aid donors to help rebuild the ruined Palestinian infrastructure.
