Plane smashes into Milan skyscraper

A small plane has crashed into a skyscraper in Milan.

The building houses the local regional government offices, the ANSA news agency reported.

Italian state television said the crash put a hole in the 25th floor of the Pirelli building. Smoke is pouring from the building.

Police and ambulances have rushed to the building in the downtown area of the city. No details are available on any casualties.

The La Repubblica newspaper reports that the eastern flank of the building was hit and that at least four floors are on fire.
