14 suspected Islamic militants arrested in Malaysia

Malaysian police have arrested 14 suspected Islamic militants, including the wife of a man accused of helping the hijackers responsible for last year’s attacks on the US.

The suspects, who include two Indonesians, were detained under security laws during two separate raids today.

Police apparently seized suspicious documents during the raids, including military training notes and a map of Port Klang, the main harbour in western Malaysia.

A police official said investigators are confident they have prevented the group from carrying out their plan, but he would not say if that included a plot to attack Port Klang.
