At least 15 riot police officers were killed today in an explosion in the Chechen capital, Grozny, witnesses and news agencies said.

An AP reporter saw 15 dead and six wounded after a vehicle carrying local pro-Moscow police exploded. The ITAR-Tass news agency said 16 people were killed and two severely wounded.
