US woman sentenced to death for killing three sons

A judge today sentenced a 44-year-old woman to death for killing three of her four sons.

A jury in California in November convicted Socorro Caro of three counts of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors said Caro became angry after a fight with her husband and on November 22, 1999, methodically shot sons Joey, 11, Michael, eight, and Christopher, five, with a handgun, then wounded herself in the head.

Last month in Texas, mother Andrea Yates was sentenced to life in prison after she was convicted in the deaths of three of her children. She drowned her five children in a bath last year.
